As part of its emergency response to the migration crisis underway in Macedonia and Serbia, Terre des hommes is in search of interpreters / translators:
English / Arabic (Middle East, Levantine or Iraqi dialects)
English / Dari
English / Pashto
English / Farsi
The role of the interpreter/ translator is to work with the teams of Tdh and its partners and foster communication between the refugees and the teams, especially with children and women, during the implementation of project activities (psychosocial care, psychological first aid, recreational activities with children, distribution of essential goods, orientation and general information, etc.)
Profile:
Good command of English mandatory (for communicating with local teams). Macedonian or Serbian is an asset.
Excellent command (mother tongue if possible) at least one of the following four languages: Arabic (Middle East dialects), Pashto, Dari and Farsi
Good social and interpersonal skills
Previous experience in social work is desired (human services, education, health, welfare, etc.)
Applications from women are strongly encouraged
The positions are based in Novi Sad in Serbia with daily trips to Adaševci to the Croatian border. It is essential that the candidate has the right to travel in the country concerned.
Time commitment: minimum 3 weeks, starting as soon as possible
Volunteer position with 100% support from Tdh for transport costs, accommodation and living.
